Senior Year Reflections

2005 september. What was on my head: homecoming, football games, AP chemistry homework, party business practice, and finding a meal line that ended up beingn’t a long time. Thus started my senior year of highschool at a large public school in Utah.

Nine years have actually passed and my knowledge of the college process changed immensely first because of my own college experience, and in addition as a result of my work in admission. If you’re reading this weblog, you’re far ahead of where We ended up being at September of my senior year. I did not understand there had been hired experts at universities and universities whom helped pupils through the process. We didn’t learn about the style of fit. We thought everyone desired to get right to the top ranked universities, and that any learning pupil, if smart sufficient, could be happy.

I spent my youth in a spot where individuals don’t leave the state. It had been common for folks to wait university, but none of my peers looked beyond the public and private schools in Utah. The application procedures were simple and mostly stress-free. The biggest stressor had been determining which in-state institution one would go to. Thoughts about where to attend college had started to enter my mind. I constantly knew i’d go, and itched for one thing beyond exactly what I’d skilled growing up in Utah, but hadn’t actually created a listing of schools. Seriously, used to don’t also know that had been anything.

I did not realize that other students had university guidance counselors shepherding them through the procedure. I did son’t understand that other pupils had ACT and SAT tutors to help them improve their scores. I did not realize that some parents and schools organized university check out trips. I’m certain there have been pupils that has visited more colleges and universities than I had also been aware of.

But this ended up being my experience. Plus it might be yours too. Possibly you too are hoping to venture beyond your community after high school. Perhaps you are going to find yourself applying for schools of that you simply weren’t familiar until in 2010. And maybe your focus appropriate now is on the courses you might be taking and your extracurriculars. There is still a lot of time to find it all out.

We’ll be blogging about my reflections of my senior 12 months timeline over the next couple of months, therefore stay tuned. I am excited to relive this journey with you!
